Spherical Bushings

Spherical plain bearings that absorb shaft misalignment and carry heavy radial loads in pivot mounts, hydraulic cylinders, and articulated joints.

Self-aligning, made for misalignment

A spherical bushing is a plain bearing built around a spherical inner ring inside a cylindrical outer ring. The geometry lets the inner ring swivel inside the housing, so the joint accepts angular misalignment without binding. Hardened steel-on-steel construction handles high static and shock loads in equipment where rolling-element bearings would not survive. PTFE-copper-mesh liner is available for maintenance-free service.

  • High static load capacity. Steel-on-steel contact across the spherical surface spreads load over a large area, with static ratings reaching 26,500 kN on the largest sizes.
  • Self-aligning by design. The inner ring swivels inside the spherical housing, so the joint stays free even when the mating shaft tilts under load.
  • Steel-on-steel or maintenance-free. GS, ES, and SB series run steel on steel with relubrication. EC-suffix series use a PTFE-copper-mesh liner for maintenance-free service.
