Miniature Linear Guide Features Extra High Rigidity and Long-term Lubrication

IKO International introduces the C-Lube Linear Way MLL, a ball style, rolling guide for use in linear motion applications requiring extra high rigidity, increased load capacity, smooth travel and maintenance-free operation.

The MLL style – extra high rigidity long – is part of IKO’s C-Lube Linear Way ML family, which offers several variations, lengths and shapes in a range of accuracy classes and preload settings. The product family is highly interchangeable: Stainless steel slide units and track rails may be ordered separately and assembled to make a set as required. MLL units are suited for a host of applications requiring superior rigidity, from semiconductor manufacturing and machine tools to construction equipment and optical inspection.

The C-Lube lubricating element features a unique capillary system consisting of a porous resin sleeve and steel backing, formed by sintering fine resin powder and impregnating a large oil supply into its open pores. As steel balls circulate within the linear guide, lubricant is continuously distributed to the loading area along the track rail. The result is maintenance-free operation guaranteed for 20,000 km, and reduced environmental impact due to the small amount of oil required. C-Lube is incorporated inside the slide unit, keeping size and weight to a minimum. Further, C-Lube has no contact with the track, thereby facilitating smooth motion with no increase in rolling resistance.

ML Family Extra high rigidity long MLL units are available in track widths of 9, 12 and 15 mm, while standard ML units come in track widths of 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 20 and 25 mm. MLL and ML units are the same height, but the MLL style features a shorter slide unit length. Two MLL units provide the same static load ratings as four ML units, enabling significant downsizing of the guide mechanism in space-constrained applications. MLL units feature static load ratings of 5,300 to approximately 14,000N and minimal elastic deformation under load. The result is a high-precision transfer mechanism with superior running accuracy.

Track rail length may be specified as needed, and track lengths may be butt-jointed for longer travel needs. MLL units are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. Special materials are also available, such as silicon nitride ceramic balls in the slide unit for high speed, low noise operation in demanding applications.
